Bincho Soho
We held a celebratory end-of-year meal at Bincho Soho from 2pm on Saturday, 10th December, followed by karaoke at Karaoke Box Soho and finishing up in the nearby pub, The Pillars of Hercules. It was a fun day and indeed night, with many members in attendance!

The Hole in the Wall
Following a successful (if rainy!) Japan Matsuri, members of the Conversation Group and their friends gathered in the cosy Hole in the Wall pub. Thirty of us enjoyed drinks until, it being a Sunday, we had to leave just before 11pm. The atmosphere was pleasant - we had a room to ourselves - and sounds from the live folk music performance in the main bar drifted through.
Thames Festival

Doggett's Coat and Badge
We watched the Night Carnival and Fireworks of the Thames Festival, meeting from 6pm in Doggett's pub on the South Bank. The festival was fun and we went back to the pub for a while before viewing the exemplary firework display from Blackfriar's bridge. It was a fun evening and 15 people attended.

Our annual Hanami cherry blossom viewing party in Kensington Gardens was from 1pm at the usual spot. Afterwards, we went to the Queens Arms pub to finish off the evening.

In April, we conducted a tasting of a Daiginjyou sake. Everyone was given three varities to try and our resident sake expert was on hand to explain the nose, taste, body and finish of each. This was an understandably popular event!

We gathered for a Restaurant Night at the supberb Yoshino restaurant in Mayfair, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. The food was splendid and the meal proved to be excellent value for money.

In March, we held an Okinawan karate demonstration. Those present in the pub upstairs who were not part of our event were treated to a rather unusual spectacle but we enjoyed the explanations of warm-ups, breathing techniques, attacking and defence.
